The city of Toronto is the cultural and business capital of Canada, and home to some truly exceptional museums, galleries and theatres. The shopping district along Yonge Street and at the Eaton Centre make Toronto a shopper's paradise, while the tallest building in the world, the landmark CN Tower that rises a staggering 553 metres above the Harbourfront demands that visitors travel to the top for the exceptional views it provides.

With plenty of museums, a rich cultural life, and areas of supreme natural beauty such as Niagara and Algonquin National Park all within striking distance, Toronto has become the most visited city in Canada, and many people visit every year, some coming for just a few days as part of a larger tour of the country, others taking advantage of cheap airfares and excellent shopping to visit Canada for a short city break as an alternative to places like New York, or Chicago.

Toronto hosts numerous annual festivals and many world class events and major sporting occasions, and also has a vibrant nightlife of late opening bars, dozens of nightclubs, and myriad restaurants offering unique dining experiences. Toronto has something to offer for everyone who comes, with visitors being welcomed throughout the year, and presented with a choice of exceptional good value hotels and places to stay.

Amongst the many attractions on offer in the city, one of the most popular is undoubtedly the Toronto Zoo, 4th largest in the world, and home to 5000 animals; the zoo occupies a vast site close to Rouge Valley. It is separated into separate continental pavilions, so all the African elephants can be seen with the lions and zebras, and so on. It has a good conservation record, and is well worth making the trip out of town to visit.

Nothing in the world comes close to the magnificent high rise CN tower, which lies in the centre of the Harbourfront area of the city, and can be seen from just about anywhere in the city. By far the world's tallest freestanding building, at 553m tall the CN Tower is almost twice the height of the Eiffel Tower in Paris and you can get a lift right to the observation skypod at the top, where you can experience views stretching for around 75 miles.

There is a revolving restaurant in the tower, and of course the infamous walk of faith that offers you the chance to stand on a piece of glass and look straight down 342 metres to the ground below.
