Blessed with an amazing location at the point where the eastern foothills of the mighty Rocky Mountains meet the expanse of central Canada's prairies, Edmonton is a city that retains more than its fair share of pioneer spirit, enjoys some of the most beautiful scenery in the world on its doorstep, and offers fantastic shopping and entertainment for the many visitors who arrive there.

Popular as part of an itinerary exploring the Canadian west, and the Rocky Mountains, Edmonton attracts millions of tourists every year, and has more than enough going on to keep them occupied during their stay.

Amongst the things to see and do in Edmonton itself, there are a number of museums, including some dedicated to aviation and the military, as well as a number of excellent art galleries. The wide-open parks of Edmonton are excellent places to chill out in the summer, while during the long winter months; they are simply places to chill when the temperature plunges below freezing for several months. One of Edmonton's most fun seasonal attractions is the so called "Corn Maize" located just outside town, where every summer, a huge corn field is strategically mown to create the largest maze in the world - a great place to lose the rest of the family if you want to spend a few moments in quiet "corn-templation". Another popular attraction is Edmonton's largest outdoor theme park, the Whitemud Drive Amusement Park, which is a fun day out for everyone.

A trip around the famous West Edmonton Shopping Mall is a great way to spend a full day. Aside from the eight hundred shops that are located throughout the shopping centre, there are also over a hundred restaurants, and many other things to keep you occupied, including go-carts, roller coasters, some twenty-six theatres, and even a full service spa to be pampered in. Many people travel to Edmonton from all over the world simply to browse through the mall, and never see the outside world during their stay.

If you do choose to get out and about, then you can expect to see some of the most breathtaking countryside in the world - particularly if you use Edmonton as the base from which to explore the Rocky Mountains, and visit the nearby cities of Calgary, and Jasper as part of an extensive self drive Holiday exploring the many hidden attractions of this rugged and historically fascinating part of Canada.
