Day 1 Calgary: Arrival

Arrive into Calgary, and pick up your hire car, then spend the day exploring one of Canada's most exciting cities.

Day 2 Calgary - Waterton-Glacier National Park - Whitefish, MT - Fernie, BC

Distance: 323 Miles
Travel south to Waterton Lakes National Park, where the colourful summits of the majestic Rocky Mountains rise suddenly out of the rolling prairies. Amid the peaks are the lakes of Waterton Lakes National Park, carved out of the rock by ancient glaciers. The uniqueness of Waterton Park is a blend of unusual geology, mild climate, rare wild flowers, and an abundance of wildlife. Cross into the USA and visit Waterton-Glacier National Park. Cross back into Canada and stop in Fernie, British Columbia for the night.

Day 3 Fernie - Fort Steele Heritage Town - Kimberley - Cranbrook

Fernie is a turn-of-the-century coal mining community that developed into a four-season vacation destination. Its world class resorts draw thousands of tourists each year, who enjoy amazing vistas, extraordinary outdoor activities, unique restaurants, and great shopping. Next visit the Fort Steele Heritage Town, which preserves more than 60 buildings from the days when Fort Steele was a gold rush boomtown. Continue on to the Bavarian village of Kimberley, one of Canada's highest towns. Stroll through the Platzl (pedestrian mall), complete with wandering minstrels and a giant cuckoo clock. Turn around and travel back to Osoyoos, noted for its Spanish Iberian architecture, desert sands and sparkling lakes. Continue along the scenic Crowsnest Highway, through Princeton and Hope.
